Get help with Plot

Plot is one person in London who wrote the software and answers the email. There is no ticket queue and no chatbot. If something is wrong, broken or simply missing, the fastest thing you can do is say so.

Email me

For anything at all.

hello@plotapp.uk

A bug, a wrong date, a subscription question, or a plant you think should be in the library. Replies usually come within two working days.

Say which device you are on and what you expected to see. A screenshot saves a round of questions.

The correction slip

Inside the app, works offline.

Open the planner and use Something wrong? at the foot of the page. It sends the plant, your climate zone and your message straight to me, without you leaving the app.

It works with no signal: the slip is stored on your device and sent the next time you are online, so you can flag a wrong date standing in the garden.

Fixes for the usual problems

My plan did not follow me to my other device

Sync is what the account is for. Without one, your plan lives in the page link on the device that made it and nowhere else.

Sign in on both devices with the same email address and the plan will appear. If you built a plan before signing up, open it on the original device first, then sign in there — the plan in front of you is the one that gets saved to the account.

The sign-in email has not arrived

Check the spam or junk folder first; a small sender on a new domain lands there more often than it should. Search for plotapp.uk rather than for “Plot”.

Confirmation and reset links expire, so if the message is old, ask for a fresh one rather than clicking the old link. If nothing arrives at all, email hello@plotapp.uk from the address you are trying to use and I will look at the account by hand.

The dates are wrong for my garden

Plot works from your postcode area, which places you in one of twelve growing zones built from Met Office long-term averages and the RHS frost map. A postcode area is not a soil test: a walled south-facing town garden and an exposed hillside can share one.

If a neighbouring area matches your ground better, change the postcode area in setup and use it — nothing stops you. Per-plant date overrides are not in the app yet.

If you think a date is wrong for the zone rather than for your particular garden, that is a bug and I want to know. Use the correction slip in the planner: it sends the plant and the zone with your message, which is exactly what I need to check it.

The weather card is empty, or showing old figures

The forecast is the one part of Plot that needs a connection. Offline it shows the last forecast it fetched and says how old that is, rather than pretending to be current.

If it stays stale with a good connection, the forecast provider may be briefly unavailable; it recovers on its own. The forecast also sits behind the subscription, so it disappears when a trial ends.

The app looks out of date, or a fix I was told about is not there

Plot caches itself on your device so it works in a garden with no signal, which means an old copy can linger. To force it to fetch the current version: close every Plot window or tab, then open it again. On a phone with Plot installed to the home screen, close it from the app switcher first.

If that does not do it, open plotapp.uk/plan.html in a normal browser tab and reload with the cache bypassed — Ctrl and Shift and R on Windows, Cmd and Shift and R on a Mac.

The calendar feed is not updating

Two honest limits. The feed only refreshes when you open Plot, so if you have not been back since spring it will still be showing spring. And calendar apps decide their own refresh schedule — Google Calendar in particular can take a day or more to notice a change.

If the link has stopped working entirely, or you want to revoke it because you shared it, use Reset the feed in the planner. That kills the old link immediately and issues a new one, which you then add to your calendar again.

Frost warnings are not reaching me

Warnings are sent by your operating system, not by Plot directly, so three things all have to be true: notifications are switched on inside the planner, your device has granted Plot permission to send them, and the device is not in a focus or do-not-disturb mode that silences them.

On an iPhone, notifications only work when Plot has been installed — from the App Store, or added to the home screen from Safari. A page open in a Safari tab cannot receive them.

Warnings also stop the moment you turn them off or delete your account, because the push address is deleted with them.

I have paid and the paid features are still locked

First, make sure you are signed in to the account you paid on. The subscription is attached to the account, not to the device.

In the iPhone app, if you have subscribed before on the same Apple ID — after reinstalling, or on a second device — use Restore purchases rather than paying again.

If it is still locked, email hello@plotapp.uk and say where you paid. I can see the subscription record and put it right.

What happens when my trial or subscription ends

Nothing is deleted and you are not locked out of your own garden. You keep your plan, both plant libraries and this month's jobs, and you can carry on editing them.

What pauses until you subscribe: the dated views — timeline, succession and rotation — the export, and the weather forecast. Subscribing again brings them straight back with your plan exactly as you left it.

Subscriptions, cancelling and refunds

Where you manage a subscription depends on who took the money, because whoever took it is the only one who can stop it or return it.

Where you subscribedWhere to cancelWhere to ask for a refund
This website The account panel in the planner, or email hello@plotapp.uk and it is done for you. Email hello@plotapp.uk.
The iPhone or iPad app Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the year ends. reportaproblem.apple.com.
The Google Play app The Play Store, under Payments and subscriptions. The Play Store's order history.

Plot cannot cancel or refund an Apple or Google subscription on your behalf, because it has no access to it and never received the money. Email and I will tell you exactly where to tap — but the cancellation has to be yours.

A subscription bought on this website carries the full 14-day right to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, whether or not you have used the paid features. If a store refuses a refund you believe you are entitled to under UK consumer law, email and I will support your claim with them in writing. The terms of service set all of this out properly.

Your account and your data

Where the dates come from

Growing windows are compiled from RHS guidance and standard UK horticultural practice, then shifted by zone. The twelve zones are built from Met Office long-term regional averages and the RHS frost map. Weather comes from Open-Meteo, licensed CC BY 4.0, whose UK blend includes the Met Office UKMO model.

Plot is not affiliated with the RHS or the Met Office. The dates are guidance from regional averages, not a guarantee for your garden, and they are not horticultural advice for your specific ground.
